Mountaintop Education Consulting is a woman-owned firm founded by longtime educator Mary DeSimone and inspired by her passion to have English Learners reach the opportunities only available at the Mountaintop of education. All ELs can make it to the mountaintop with appropriate teaching, and teachers must be supported with high-level professional development to gain skills and confidence to support their students. During her 20 years of experience in the field of ESL Tyler's main focus has been newcomers. As a teacher, coach or administrator, Tyler has worked to ensure that students are receiving the best instruction possible. Now as a consultant, she has the opportunity to help even more teachers feel prepared to reach this amazing population!
Tamara Eklof has served as a teacher of English learners in New York City, a high school principal with 1200 students, and is currently a District Coordinator of Multilingual Programs and Federal Grant Programs in Vermont. Tamara grew up in a multilingual/multicultural family and believes that high-quality instruction and the cultivation of a sense of belonging to a community helps all students grow and thrive. Tamara holds a Curriculum Director License and a NYC Superintendent certificate. She is in year three of the Educational Leadership and Policy doctoral program at the University of Vermont.
